The job role was to provide mentoring to a group of year 9s, 10,s and 11s who harboured ambitions of going to university. In this role I learned how to do lesson planning for both small groups and one to one sessions. This enhanced my ability to plan in general as well as lay out clear SMART objectives to help mentoring sessions flow smoothly. Towards the end of the programme this extended to large group sessions of about 40 children. This role also furthered my knowledge on safeguarding as I was working with young people.I also mentored first year law students, to help get them through their first year of legal study and living away from home. My main role was X-Ray and Bag searching. I also carried out other security roles such as patrol and body searching as and when required. During my time at the Olympics I worked with a number of different people in different teams. This helped me to become adaptable to different situations and teams further improving my ability to work within a team environment. This also aided my communication skills as I was working with new people every few days.This role was my first job which had me working in a high pressure environment. The amount of visitors from all over the world attending the London Olympics meant large crowds every day and lots of pressure in terms of searching quickly and efficiently but also thoroughly. The teamwork, communication skills and ability to work in a high pressure environment are valuable assets I obtained from working the Olympics

Being a youth inspector required planning skills and attention to detail as well as the ability to quickly analyse and remember information received in inspections ranging from 20 minutes to two hours depending on the type of inspection taking place. This would then lead to a final report and presentation to the relevant parties involved. Teamwork skills were also developed as I was required to work with other inspectors in groups of between two and four people, as well as coordinate with other Local Council inspectors in different boroughs. This also enhanced my planning and communication skills.
