Cheshire Dogs Home - Warrington

A fun and exciting new position opened up at Cheshire Dogs Home where I was working as a kennel handler and I jumped at the opportunity to try my hand at a more creative position. While working in this role, I have been able to acquire many new skills and let my inventiveness flow, creating media in many different formats and becoming familiar with photo editing software such as paint.net and making use of what resources I had around me.

Having been a volunteer at the Dogs Trust, I had already met many of the team and found that, although I had a fair understanding of canine behaviour, there was still a lot to learn. This was a task that I undertook with the same passion that I give to all new learning experiences and found it extremely rewarding. Learning how animals behaved and acted gave me a new patience and appreciation of calm and clear communication, which I was able to utilise when conversing with the general public.

During my time with the Liphook team, I was given the responsibility of running the diagnostic tests on the many samples that were sent to the hospital daily. In the morning, the team and myself would be working to unpack the several hundred samples, which were then sorted into their respective departments, parasitology, biochemistry, microbiology, haematology and endocrinology.
