GPS data collection included poles, powerlines and electric substation footprints for Rural Electric Cooperatives, Municipal and Investor Owned utilities. Extensive field work included GPS data capture with Trimble equipment in challenging rural and urban environments. Real time differential correction and post processing techniques were employed to increase accuracy. External hardware devices, such as laser rangefinders, were also used for hard to reach features. As our client base grew, so did the volume of data and coordination necessary to capture, return, edit and verify the collected datasets. My role evolved to manage multiple field crews that were performing this data capture. I coordinated the placement of field crews on certain jobs, the workflow of data in and out of the office, hardware maintenance and related training on hardware and software.
