During my time with the City of Ottawa, my main area of focus was internal communication. This position relied heavily on strong writing skills and being able to adapt to different audiences. Most of the work consisted of constant production of articles and following up with departments to ensure that all facts were correct and that employee comments were in the right context. Once everything was approved, I developed the internal newsletter that was read by all employees. Being in this position made me realize each project is a cumulative effort with everybody involved.Major AccomplishmentWas recognized by the Mayor’s office for the high quality of articles that I produced for the City newsletter.

My time at Make-A-Wish Eastern Ontario allowed me to further develop my skill set in the world of non-profit while also gaining a sense of accomplishment knowing that I was helping children in our local area get the wishes that they deserve. With being a non-profit you are forced to wear many hats and experience many different aspects of the roll. Everyday came with a new set of challenges with a few everyday tasks including social media management, preparation of all outgoing communication and community outreach. Major AccomplishmentEnsuring the Tysen’s Mission to a Million was successfull with only 86 days remaining and $200,000 left to raise.

During my time working as a junior communication specialist with Algonquin College and the Bigger Than Hockey campaign, my focus was to raise awareness and fundraise for the Capital City Condors. This position required lots of teamwork and project management to ensure that our goal was reached. My main tasks consisted of community outreach in the Ottawa market for donation goods, drafting and editing of articles as well as event planning and hosting of fundraising events.Major AccomplishmentRaised $13,950 for the Capital City Condors over four months.
