Only a few of the components were adaptations of existing technologies. Most of the mechanisms had to be developed from scratch. At Siemens, I worked with a team to commission building automation systems in many of the hospitals around Boston's Longwood Medical area. I was also responsible for designing the computer interfaces that allow facilities personnel to communicate with the systems (HMI/SCADA).
