    Mayer Plastics are a medium sized manufacturer of custom made PVC products in the stationery and promotional area.Key achievements and experience: · Effectively time managed the entire production process, from raw material, work in progress through to delivery of finished goods. Utilised the principals of DIFOT, for enhanced customer service, Results: Reduced normal lead time of 4 to 5 weeks, to only 12 working days. Increased DIFOT results from only 55% of all production orders to a credible 87% of all orders. · Implemented KPI's to each process of the manufacturing operation. Monitored individual performances measured of 28 direct report staff, against the KPI's. Conducted one on one appraisal to motivate and encourage each employee's performance. Result: Productivity increases up to 15% were recorded. This also contributed to the substantially reduced lead times. · Managed Inventory levels of stock items used in the manufacturing process. Predominantly materials were ordered based on JIT. By conducting an ABC analysis, the top 20% of raw material used, were carried as a stock item, as opposed to JIT, Result: For many products, and for A class customers, lead times of only 3 or 4 days could be achieved. · Introduced OH&S into Mayer Plastics. Established an OH&S Committee to complete workplace inspections. The committee created policies and procedures for all staff to comply. Created Emergency Evacuation Procedures, and assumed the role of Chief Warden. Conducted training sessions with all members. Result: Work cover inspections approved all policies and procedures implemented. Also performed several trial evacuations, with minimal disruption to productivity.

Monitored each supplier's performance in key areas that enabled discounts to be achieved through negotiation of volume incentives and early invoice payment schemes. Result: This created tremendous rapport with the key suppliers, which in turn improved customer satisfaction, ensuring several repeat orders, whilst creating long term customer relationships. · Designed a database to enable all work in progress to be sorted and prioritised by the Due Date and various other criteria. Result: Reduced operating costs by enabling products and processes to be amalgamated and total costs to be easily identified. Transport costs were reduced by 12% and courier costs decreased by $630 per month. · Negotiated and built relationships with various suppliers, ie printers, embroiderers, and other third party providers to get better pricing and priority treatment. Liaised with customers to keep them constantly updated re their orders.
