I think this is a hugely exciting time to work at Hampshire County Council as we continue to deliver excellent services to the organisation and residents of Hampshire and beyond.I lead a team of 60 IT professionals and managers across all technical infrastructure specialisms (server platforms, security, network, data centre, database, storage and backup), delivering 3rd level support, maintenance, security management and infrastructure platform development.As Project Executive I have been accountable for successful delivery of a number of high profile strategic project - for example implementing Hyper Converged Infrastructure on Nutanix, migration of 13,000 mailboxes to Exchange Online, implementation of Dell Networker backup with Dell Data Domain and others.As we seek to increase our maturity in cloud services, I have also established a Cloud Operations team to manage and run our Microsoft cloud services (Office 365 and Azure).

As deputy to the Head of Infrastructure, I was accountable for the disaster recovery service, infrastructure capacity and financial planning, major incident resolution and leading on cross discipline transformation and savings work.During my time in this role, the organisation achieved a reduction in the annual budget of £90 Million while continuing as a top performing authority. To meet this challenge, I led on projects which contributed to savings of around £0.5 Million. These included major staffing efficiencies within the data centre area, process and technology automation and reductions in the cost of data storage, backup and recovery services.

Various senior team leader roles across the infrastructure area of IT service delivery managing multiple technical teams up to forty people and capital replacement projects of up to £1.5M in value. Key roles in this time include:-• Data Centre Manager – responsible for the tier 2 equivalent (N+1) data centre, ensuring strong management processes were set up and followed including capacity planning and risk management.• Data Storage Manager – procuring and implementing various data storage solutions including EMC Data Domain, NetApp FAS storage and IBM V7000 storage technology.• Database Team Manager – upgraded the database estate to MS SQL Server 2005, then 2008 R2.• Unix Team Manager – exploiting major technology investments and migrating from Sun Solaris to IBM AIX.The success I enjoyed in these roles came from pulling together talented and committed technical teams, growing talent internally and encouraging an environment of continuous feedback.

Led a team of IT Consultants providing hosted applications to departments of Hampshire County Council and partner organisations. This role included responsibility for technical decisions and direction, line management responsibility for the team, resource management, management of escalated issues and liaison with suppliers.

Various technical roles across the infrastructure area of IT service delivery. Key roles in this time include:-IT Consultant (March 2003 – October 2006)Fulfilled a variety of technical consultant roles across the IT infrastructure area. Developed skills in Citrix presentation server, Windows server, web caching and content filtering, Linux/Apache web hosting, IIS web hosting, Web CMS, infrastructure security, firewall administration and Cisco switch administration.Data Centre Operator / Senior Data Centre Operator (March 2001 – March 2003)Responsible for supervising the duty shift and deputising for the Team Leader, general management of the data centre, providing 24 x 7 shift coverage. This included first line fault resolution, environment management (air conditioning, power, UPS, cabling, space).
