I had weekly pairing sessions with all the engineers on my team. I also did code reviews and looked at pull requests to keep a pulse on how the code and architecture was changing. As a regular part of starting new projects, engineers created technical design documents which I would review and provide feedback on. I also worked closely with the trifecta of Engineering, Product Management, and Design to provide engineering perspective on projects and to curate a backlog of future work for the team.I have direct experience using many other development methodologies and theories including Data Structures, Polymorphism, Encapsulation and other Object Oriented Programming (OOP) practices. I've worked on distributed systems that support millions of daily active users. Engineering ManagerShopify May 2022 - May 2023Ottawa, On, CaI served as Engineering Manager for Shopify’s App Developer Experience engineering team. The team owned the web and command line interfaces used by 3rd-party app developers to create, configure, and manage Shopify Apps. I managed 9 engineers (even split of Backend and Frontend). The frontend of the application was built with React and Typescript. The backend was written with Ruby, Rails, and MySQL running on GCP. The team also owned the event pipeline tracking App events like installs, usage, errors, etc. The event pipeline was built with Kafka, Flink, and Elasticsearch. -
