Over the past 30 years I have built a successful career in retail, supply and service operations, by focusing on teamwork, innovation and accountability. I am passionate about delivering more than is expected; whether that’s delighting a customer, helping a colleague or team member succeed, or leading a critical project. I thrive in an environment that challenges me daily and surprises me regularly. I like to be where the action is!Over my journey I have opened, closed, relocated and refurbished hundreds of stores. I have successfully negotiated leases, EBAs and supply/service agreements. I have sponsored Six Sigma projects and led numerous projects that have delivered step change improvements. I have managed large P&Ls with both influence and authority and consistently delivered profitable growth. I have achieved all of this with an unwavering focus on three things: safety, customer first and one team. Although winning may not be everything, it is my preference! I throw myself in to everything I do and I am proud of my accomplishments in both my professional and personal life. My family is my greatest success and something I am forever grateful for. Their support has allowed me to travel extensively and frequently in pursuit of my career goals, whilst not always getting my work/life balance right. My love of technology is often the source of innovation at work. There is always a solution and I enjoy finding solutions for ‘old problems’. Technology has enabled me to deliver efficiencies, process improvements and generally make things simpler, safer and faster.I have an active mind and love learning new things. Understanding the ‘why’ behind the ‘what’ is something I enjoy. Working in high-performing teams at pace is what gets me out of bed each morning. I am equally comfortable presenting to the board, negotiating a large deal, serving a customer, or unpacking a delivery. Every job is important and I like to let people know that their contribution matters.Whatever I do next, I want to do it well. The experience I have gained at a variety of different organisations – multi-nationals, family businesses, company networks, franchise networks, retail, trade, service – has given me enormous comfort in almost any environment. I have learnt from some great business leaders and also some not-so-great. I have had many successes and many failures. Each has made me a better leader and manager. I continue to hone my craft and I know I have the capability to continue to create success stories for myself and those around me, now and well in to the future.
