An energetic and results-oriented technology innovator, start-up entrepreneur and tech industry executive, I'm not your typical engineer. I bring over thirty years of passion, leadership, knowledge and experience to the business of building great new tech products and ventures.After receiving a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Carleton University in 1984, I began my career as an electronics engineer at the National Research Council’s Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics working in the field of radio astronomy. I subsequently joined Canadian Marconi Company where I honed my product innovation, manufacturing and commercialization skills developing, marketing and selling leading-edge wireless communications products to the defense, aerospace and telecommunications markets globally. In the spring of 2000, I co-founded Spotwave Wireless Inc.—a VC-backed start-up dedicated to delivering on the promise of ubiquitous wireless connectivity. A co-inventor of the company’s award winning SpotCell product and technology for eliminating coverage trouble spots for cell phones inside buildings, I served as the company’s President & CEO as well as being a member of the Board of Directors.
