I am currently an Academic Coach with 6 years experience. Prior to becoming an Academic Coach, I taught 4th grade and 6th grade ELA for 14 years. I currently work with new teachers to equip them with the skills and strategies needed to be successful. I facilitate professional learning at the school and district levels that enables teachers to enhance student learning. I help teachers analyze data in order to differentiate instruction based on student needs and participate in grade level content collaboration.Before becoming an Academic Coach, I was co-chair of the school improvement committee, member of the school leadership team, and grade-level team leader. As a member of the school leadership team, I facilitated staff development and assisted in making decisions to improve student learning. I facilitated grade level team meetings and collaboration. When my administration was out of the building, I was acting principal until they returned.Colleagues know me as a collaborator and a person of integrity. I am a person who believes in working smarter not harder, therefore, I am open to new and innovative ideas that will improve student learning and increase the efficiency of different aspects of schooling. I understand the importance of research and analyzing data to increase teacher effectiveness and student learning. I believe change is important, but understand that people are impacted by change differently. I understand that teachers, students, and parents need a leader that can communicate effectively and provide the training and information necessary to adapt to change. I have an Education Specialist degree from Austin Peay State University. I am currently working toward my Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
