Employment Relations Officer

Belfast, United Kingdom

Specialist in employment relations and alternative dispute resolution: I fulfilled my statutory role (legal) to assist parties (both the employer and the employee) and their representatives (legal professionals, trade union representatives and lay advocates) in dispute prior to, and during the time of, industrial and fair employment tribunal claims being lodged. At all times I ensured I provided independent and up to date information, conducted myself with complete independence and impartiality and upheld strict confidentiality. Ultimately my role was to assist parties in recognising the potential strengths and weakness of their case and to resolve their dispute. I conciliated and facilitated legally binding agreements containing terms of settlement prior to and upon application to the Office of Industrial and Fair Employment Tribunals.I personally worked on 4,800+ cases during the lifetime of this role, I had an average of 85% to 90% settlement rate, and only 3% to 5% of my caseload ever progressed to a tribunal hearing. My professional integrity was held in high regard and I took pride in ensuring my skills and knowledge required within this role were always up to date e.g. case law developments, best practice and industry standards. Given the statutory nature of the post held I have completely unique and extensive experience that offered service users a highly valuable and quantifiable service.
