Thomas Heine heads the area of innovation infrastructures at the State Competence Centre Digital Care and is also involved in various (inter-)national activities and projects at the University of Tübingen in the area of Active & Healthy Ageing. Since 2005, he has been active in the areas of Ambient Assisted Living (AAL), Demographic Change and Smart Living, among others. The focus of his scientific work is on linking participatory design, the use of technology as a useful toolkit and the transfer of knowledge into practice in the field of living, health, care and digitalisation. Understanding perspectives, active exchange of experience and involvement in various committees (Working Group Digitisation and Working Group Network Consultation of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Integration Baden-Württemberg, Demography advisory council Baden-Württemberg, Four Motors for Europe – Working Group Digital Health & Care, etc.) complement his activities. Furthermore, Thomas is a member of the Federal Working Group on Living Space Adaptation and is a founding spokesperson for the specialist working group on technology counselling and promotes the topic of independent living in combination with the sensible use of technology. For the district of Rems-Murr, he is an honorary ambassador for accessibility and takes care of the issues of participation and inclusion according to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Article 9.
