Michael Rübsamen received the Dipl.-Ing. degree from RWTH Aachen University in 2006 and the Dr.-Ing. degree from Technische Universität Darmstadt in 2011, both with distinction in electrical engineering and information technology.During 2004-2005, he held a research scholarship from Bell-Labs, Crawford Hill, NJ, where he investigated signal processing techniques for fiber optic communication systems. From 2006 till 2012, he was a Research Scientist in the Communication Systems Group at Technische Universität Darmstadt. Under the supervision of Professor Alex Gershman, he worked on signal processing algorithms for radar and sonar systems, including robust adaptive receive beamforming, high-resolution direction-of-arrival estimation, sparse array geometry design, and sensor array calibration. In 2012, he joined the Wireless Product Research and Development Department of Intel as a Wireless Systems Engineer. He investigated baseband digital signal processing algorithms for 3G/HSDPA receivers and contributed as a technical task leader to the implementation of novel receiver algorithms. In 2016, he commenced training as a patent attorney with Maiwald Patentanwalts- and Rechtsanwalts-GmbH, and later joined Boehmert & Boehmert Anwaltspartnerschaft mbB, where his activities are focused on patent drafting and prosecution as well as opposition proceedings. He is a German Patent Attorney since 2019 and a European Patent Attorney since 2021. Michael received the Student Best Paper Award at the IEEE Sensor Array and Multichannel Signal Processing (SAM) Workshop in 2010. He was a scholar of the German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes).
