Computational Fluid Laboratory - (PhD thesis, advisor - Prof. Krishnan Mahesh)• Advanced the Large Eddy Simulation (LES) capabilities to study hydrodynamic cavitation in the in-house parallel compressible multi-phase solver MPCUGLES written in Fortran/MPI.• Collaborated with interdisciplinary researchers from world-wide at top universites as part of Multi-University Research Initiative (MURI) on predicting turbulent multi-phase flows with high fidelity.• Developed a numerical approach based on low Mach number time-derivative preconditioning that led to 10 fold speed-up for the simulation of turbulent cavitating flows.• Created complex grids of O(10millions) for marine propellers using hybrid Gridpro/Pointwise mesh generators.• Improved physical understanding of cloud cavitation mechanisms (re-entrant jet & bubbly shock waves) which are a major cause of noise, vibration and material damage in marine applications.• Investigated physical modeling of phase change, thermodynamic equations of states, speed of sound and the effects of non-condensable gases.

Laboratoire d’Hydrodynamique (LadHyX) - (PI: Dr. Abdul Barakat)• Developed computational models for studying blood flow in the human placenta in collaboration with medical doctors.• Provided a first-ever estimation of wall shear stress on syncytiotrophoblast by conducting CFD simulations using a real scan of porous media in the placental unit & modeling non-Newtonian effects of blood flow in the intervillous space.• Published a research paper that featured in PLOS ONE’s top 10% most cited articles in 2019.
