• Advanced the Large Eddy Simulation (LES) capabilities to study hydrodynamic cavitation in the in-house parallel compressible multi-phase solver MPCUGLES written in Fortran/MPI.
• Collaborated with interdisciplinary researchers from world-wide at top universites as part of Multi-University Research Initiative (MURI) on predicting turbulent multi-phase flows with high fidelity.
• Developed a numerical approach based on low Mach number time-derivative preconditioning that led to 10 fold speed-up for the simulation of turbulent cavitating flows.
• Created complex grids of O(10millions) for marine propellers using hybrid Gridpro/Pointwise mesh generators.
• Improved physical understanding of cloud cavitation mechanisms (re-entrant jet & bubbly shock waves) which are a major cause of noise, vibration and material damage in marine applications.
