Chief Technology OfficerSsg Insight Apr 2019 - PresentPerth, AustraliaI have joined SSG Insight at a very exciting time. Its Business Relationship ManagerSerco Jul 2017 - Apr 2019Perth, AustraliaMy role at Serco further developed in July 2017 with greater responsibility as the ITS Business Relationship Manager for the Immigration Service which covers 10 facilities and 3 corporate offices across Australia – including Christmas Island. This change coincided with a transformation of the IT and a new IT service provider, HCL. We transitioned into a highly matrix-based operational teams. This and my previous role require management of the key stakeholders, understanding the KPI’s associated with each of the business functions, and how and what we use to collect data for workflows and reporting, ensuring integrity of data at all times. The standard of reporting for privately run government contracts far exceeds that of those run by the state. My role has put me as the go-to person for developing new idea’s using IT, and also an escalation point for issues, for which I have to manage with other IT staff, subcontractor and vendors. As the voice of the business to IT, I need to ensure the systems are maintained and supported, and work with other operational teams to pull in resources required ‘to get the job done’ and 'maintain service'. People management skills are fundamental to this role, we have a lean team and rely on our suppliers to offer support when required, so maintaining a strong professional relationship is paramount. These contracts are low margin, which means that Value for Money is sought when reviewing the application portfolio and longer term planning for the business/IT needs. However, there are minimum standards which must be adhered to protect the people in our care, staff and the reputation of the Serco. I have had to roll up my sleeves and develop solutions (receiving national recognition nomination) and instrumental in the recovery of systems after a hardware failure. This is a great roll where you never know what you may face each day, and have to think quickly and laterally to solve problems. -
Applications Service Delivery ManagerSerco Jun 2016 - Jul 2017AspacI was offered a new position within Serco, as the Service Delivery Manager for Applications in the Justice business unit. This covers 5 contracts for Prisons and Court Service across Australia/NZ. As with previous roles, I rapidly become the subject matter expert on the underlying technology applications that support the business, despite little documentation or knowledge of how the systems interface or operate, I just have to work it out.The role requires management of the key stakeholders in the prisons, understanding the KPI’s, and how and what we use to collect data and report on these, ensuring integrity of data at all times. The standard of reporting for privately run prisons far exceeds that of those run by the state. My experience is proving valuable to the bid teams in Sydney too, to support new business and avoid mistakes made previously, and I also participate in the strategic direction of Serco’s Global ‘Centre for Excellence for Justice’ in planning what can achieved in 2017 and beyond. Technology in prisons has many beneficial uses, but also some unforeseen ones. My portfolio has extended to include Defence, Immigration and Transport, whilst still occasionally helping out at Fiona Stanley Hospital. -
Ict Project ManagerSerco Jul 2014 - Jun 2016Fiona Stanley Hospital, Murdoch, Perth, WaI am very privileged to have joined the Serco team at Fiona Stanley Hospital prior to the opening of the $2+bn state-of-the-art facilities which proudly boasts to be one of the very best hospitals in Australia.I initially managed delivery of software modules for the Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) software called Agility from SoftSols. This software is at the heart of Serco’s FM operations, and manages reactive work orders, planned maintenance schedules, regular tasks and asset management. This software also instructs the AGV’s (Automated Guided Vehicles) to carry the heavy loads around the hospital. During this phase, I managed the roll-out of modules, upgrades, Android & Windows PDA’s and tablet PC’s, and deliver training. The hospital went fully operational Feb 2015 with nearly 800 beds open, and I am now a permanent employee in an ICT Business Application Manager role. I am responsible for a suite of FM applications; as well as Agility, other systems include Aeroscout (RTLS tracking system for people and equipment), the data-warehouse and work with the Estates team on the iELVS building management system. I manage the business relationships with the FM (Serco) service delivery teams, the Client (WA Health), the ICT sub-contractor (British Telecom) and I also have a close relationship with many of the suppliers. I still manage software releases and am the subject matter expert for software configurations within my systems.I have just complemented the integration of Airwatch Mobile Device Management solution to manage the fleet of mobile android devices for the FM.I have gained valuable experience working in an ITIL environment where change control is taken seriously and ICT is on a cutting edge enterprise scale. At times it is frustrating to be hands-off, but my experience and skills are valued by all of the stakeholders.I am proud to play my part in delivering a world class solution to make a positive impact for patients, visitors and staff. -

Independent It Consultant, Software Design, Business Analyst And Project ManagerUltra Smart Projects Ltd Jan 2012 - Jun 2013Liverpool, United KingdomI set up Ultra Smart Projects to enable me to work on a number of software development projects simultaneously. The aim was to help companies develop their Unique Selling Point (USP) by utilising existing technical solutions, or developing custom solutions, so that they can stand out and differentiate themselves in the market place and offer a superior service for their clients and users. My latest software development project utilised my Business Analysis and Project Management skills on a project with Congrex, an organisation based in Stockholm. The solution is custom designed and developed, and I was involved from the initial scope and project brief, I wrote the high level and detailed business analysis, and co-ordinated the development with the external software company. I worked closely with the internal team to deliver the system to the users, suppliers and clients. The project delivered a bespoke software solution to replace two existing systems, plus added a third element giving the business a USP in its market. The solution is a dedicated online booking system to enable existing and new clients to book meeting rooms with Congrex’s suppliers, plus accommodation and other ancillary activities, via an online portal. This now gives Congrex a competitive edge in its market place.Congrex is delighted with the solution which was delivered on time and to budget and is also starting to win them new business. The software roadmap adds interfaces into suppliers live booking systems, extends functionality to allow enhanced booking options and integrates new SEO features.I have also worked on some speculative scoping projects reviewing the suitability of potential solutions to help companies to grow, retain existing clients and attract new ones. This type of work requires a broad knowledge of IT solutions and the skills to match these with the potential business objectives of the Client being consulted, and the ability to analyse the costs, risks and benefits.

I started on this project pre-go-live, and worked with the development team to get the software ready for release in July 2010, with system testing and subsequently implementing into the clients online environments.Throughout 2010-13 I continued the analysis and development of the solution, managing the support of the software, training the new staff and users. I continued to contribute into the software development cycle with feedback from clients, regulatory changes and reviewed opportunities to extend the potential of the solution into new markets. In 2012 I managed the migration of the solution to Microsoft Azure and SQL Azure platforms to improve reliability, performance and potential growth, and developed a disaster recovery plan which supported the end user’s business requirements after experiencing external system failures (ISP).

Head Of Technology And OperationsLivesmart Ltd May 2010 - Dec 2011Liverpool, United KingdomLivesmart's main product was a regionally based loyalty card with over 100,000 members. It Project Implementation ManagerPimss Data Systems Ltd Feb 2006 - May 2010Wirral, United KingdomPimss Data Systems is an Independent Software Vendor providing Asset Management and data solutions to over 50 clients nationwide and data services for a further 100 clients. The client base is Social Landlords (RSL’s, ALMO’s and Local Government), and nationwide surveying companies. After joining, I quickly identified that the current software design could no longer support the growing needs of our clients and continue to comply with legislative requirements. I worked with the existing team and clients to design and build a new software solution, with new functionality, and a lower support overhead. The system utilises Analysis Services, Reporting Services and Integration Services (SSAS, SSRS, SSIS) to provide our clients with a solution that is seen as innovative and a market leader.I project managed implementations of the product to 25 clients, running multiple projects simultaneously. The process included site visits to analyse data requirements and the migration of existing information, linking data to 3rd party systems. Pimms4communities enabled clients to centralise and structure their data, so it can be used and reported against. In order to physically deploy the software, I needed complex technical skills of single/multiple domains, how the software integrated with Active Directory and the use of Kerberos Security to pass user credentials between machines. Deployment was to real, virtual and clustered environments, accessed by full and thin clients, links to SharePoint, modifying DNS and deploying to Web and Application Servers. -
