Responsibilities• Purchase a range of raw materials, sub contracted components and factored goods, and with an annual spend of £10m.• Reduce the material costs of the business by using existing or new suppliers. • Negotiate and agree contractual terms with suppliers.• Ensure continuation of supply to meet customer requirements.• Involvement in new product development projects from conception to launch with a number of internal departments.• Group reporting on purchasing synergies across all group companies and support group purchasing actions. • Provide regular feedback on purchasing issues which could affect the organisation.Achievements• Implementation of supplier re-sourcing projects resulting in annual savings (2009 - £25k, 2010 – £30k, 2011 - £50k).• Introduce Min/Max and supplier Kan Ban replenishment systems, reducing the inventory held on site and the number of production stoppages due to purchasing shortages. Implementation of consignment stock with strategic suppliers.• Identifying in house capacity and bringing in a number of products which resulted in a cost saving of around £6k.
