About Sarah Hill
My Mindset: Life is full of obstacles/challenges. One thing is certain, we must put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward to make progress, no matter how small. That’s why my life’s passion is helping others to reach their potential because progress can happen, will happen, even in the face of obstacles/challenges. Sometimes we just need the right person to guide us and walk with us along the way.My Passions: I’ve dedicated my career to helping others, whether as an instructor or as a mentor to a parent who has a child with dwarfism. My passion, my fire, comes from helping others when they need it most. The three areas of life where I believe my passion is utilized most:◍ Teaching: Looking back to when I was in college, there were some difficult periods of struggle and defeat. However, I persevered and told myself that no matter how hard, I would overcome the obstacles I faced. And, I did. I use this time in my life, now a memory, as a way for me to help current students. Life can be hard for current college students, so I try to be as compassionate and helpful as possible. Sometimes just being there, listening and having “a person” you can turn to in your corner, makes all the difference. Their lives and struggles are important, and I want to be there to help them overcome just as I wished someone was there for me when I was in their shoes.◍ Advising: During my time working as an academic advisor, I was able to gain a unique perspective on college life. It was during this pivotal time in my graduate studies when I truly began to see the value in connecting and building solid relationships. I was able to speak with students about their hopes, dreams and interests and help cultivate those in a way that best suited their academic pursuits. I was able to help them build an academic path to their ultimate dream in life. That was pretty special.◍ Little People of America: When I think about my life, one of the largest turning points for me was finding this community. The LPA community changes lives. The opportunity to make time for others, connect them with people who have similar questions, goals and interests bring a joy and fulfillment to my life that cannot truly be explained. It is in this organization that I have been able to use my skills of helpfulness, compassion, perseverance and acceptance to help change the world one day at a time. So, as you can see, my entire world has been devoted to helping others. I hope that I can continue to be a change maker and bring my skills to another organization in just the same way.
