At Grosvenor Engineering Group, I maintained and supported the ARMS system, an MS Access-based application integrated with SQL Server, managing critical operational tasks such as job setups, technician entries, accounting, reporting, timesheets, HR functionality, and administration reporting. The system was used by over 300 users across Australia and New Zealand, supporting more than 1,300 employees.I was part of a team of three developers responsible for the migration and redevelopment of this legacy system into a modern web-based platform, utilizing Razor, Telerik, C#, and other web technologies. Our team worked closely to convert key functions and ensure a seamless transition to the new system. Once the new platform went live and the old system was decommissioned, my role was made redundant as part of the transition process.

I have improved, modified and created 4 systems while at Qantas.1) Improved data collection of an existing, newly created and incomplete system by automating the extensive, manual data collection process to reduce the steps required by the operator to define and import the data to improve speed, accuracy and time required. Also added multiple charts and flexible filtering to display the required information. The system is used to track the work progress around heavy aircraft maintenance. 2) Remediated another MS Access based system which had functionality stop working due to changes in an external system. I fixed the issues and also added date filtering to existing charts to reduce the amount of data graphed to workable level...too much data.3) Automated the data collection of an Excel spread sheet pulling in data from an external system. The original system required the user to manually run around 20 long running data collection functions over around 90 minutes. I completely automated the entire process by adding a macro to coordinate the entire collection unattended allowing the user to simply run the collection macro and come back later and collect the results.4) Created a small and targeted system with an expected life of 3-4 months to provide an easy way for the user to examine, comment and report on a large list of maintenance tasks for the entire fleet to assist in identifying areas of cost saving around aircraft maintenance.

Maintain existing MS Access order processing system which had reached the limits of MS Access and had started to show signs of instability and slowness as well as keep it operational whilst migrating system to SQL Server 2005. I also performed all data cleansing and migration to SQL Server and the implementation of SQL Server based system into production. I commenced by stabilising and increasing speed of the existing system through redesign and recoding of several key functions, migrated initial data to SQL, modify SQL database structure as required and recode front end to work with SQL Server 2005. Finally I cleansed the data and merged operational data and archived data into SQL Server to permit full historical reporting on business activities. The project resulted in a stable system, dramatic processing speed increase (2 hours down to 10 minutes) of overnight orders, more responsive system giving the users a better experience which should ultimately improve the customers experience in placing and receiving their orders.

Added new functionality to an existing in house developed system. Functionality included full integration with MS Outlook and MS Access to display and manipulate tasks and meetings with client details from the database, display task and meeting data in access to replicate the look and feel of Outlook in Month, Week and Daily Schedule views including replicating clashing meetings display as in Outlook, adjust design on all other screens so display properly fits different screen sizes without leaving blank areas and other functional modifications. Data sources for the project included SQL Server 2008 and API integration with MS Outlook.

Testing applications in preparation for Windows 7 rollout as well as maintaining and new development of the database applications being used to record and report compatability issues, staff, their current applications and automating communications with information derived from the databases. I also automated the creation of and emailing 2,500 documents to gather information from staff about their applications and automated the retrieval of the information into the database to provide functional and planning reporting to assist in organising the rollout of Windows 7 and Office 2010.

Assist with Windows 7 and Office 2010 rollout primarily by testing and fixing existing Access and Excel applications to ensure they work with Office 2010 in a Windows 7 environment.Locate all MS Access databases within HSBC Sydney, liaise with the database owners to convert,test and remediation in preparation for their system and Office upgrade. I have located over 500 databases to date and have automated much of the process involved in gathering and converting these databases to Access 2010 and identifying those that require remediation. Remediation of course is still a manual process for those requiring code and object modifications.Mission complete....

Short contract where I assisted with modifications to Macro Scheduler scripts to extract data from one application through automated screen navigation and data scraping and enters the data into another application, simulating data rekeying with automated macros.

Assisted to migrate a large chunk of data consisting of 9 million records from a legacy system to SAP. Started January 11, 2011. Completed on February 18, 2011. Reduced the processing time of the data from an estimated 12-15 hours ((based on test runs using Access Queries) to 50 minutes using SQL Server and T-SQL with MS Access 2010 for reporting and exporting.

3 month project to convert an existing spreadsheet application into a multi-user database application using MS Access 2003 and SQL Database.The final system accepts project information from up to 40 users in two countries and provides project forecasts to assist in determining the feasibility of a product release.

A short-term project to improve the efficiency of an existing manual Resource Management process in the HR Department. The resulting system improved accuracy and reduced the time used in the process by 90% each month. The system was developed in MS Access 2000 and automated data importing from Excel files, processing and exporting results to Excel templates as required for updating by various department and also for updating the main financial system.

Primary role was to support the old VAX system (inherited when Qantas bought the company) until its retirement. Assisted in extraction and migration of VAX data into new system. Also developed a Print Server application in VB6 to capture print jobs from the VAX and print the data on newly designed forms using Microsoft technologies.

Initial role was for the RAAF at Richmond to develop a system which tracks the costs involved in flying the Hercules Aircraft around the world (VB6 and SQL Server). I also developed 3 in house systems for Aspect in MS Access.
