Project lead on the investigation of the mechanism of the FUS protein in ALS and FTD diseases: Biophysical characterization of the disease mutant. (Also contributed collaborative projects related to nuclear pore proteins).− Developed SiMRoD technique to study the FUS protein liquid to solid transition in mutant disease states of ALS and FTD.− Utilized an extraordinarily low frequency blinking dye to perform super resolution microscopy for FUS condensates structure.− Designed a molecular delivery system for tagged gene expression of the nuclear protein Nup98 by AAVS safe harbor stable gene integration in the human cell lines.− Trained and mentored interns.Molecular Cell Biology, Gene Expression and Regulation, Gene Editing, Protein Phase Separation, Protein Stability, Protein Folding, Protein Transport, Membrane-less Organelles, Intrinsically Disordered Proteins, Low Complexity Domain Protein, Protein Droplets, Single Molecule Microscopy, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Fronto-temporal Dementia (FTD), Fused in Sarcoma (FUS Protein), Nuclear Import Proteins, Nuclear Pore Complex, Nuclear Transport, Nup62, Nup98, FG repeats, Particle Tracking, Stress Granules, Photo-activated Localization Microscopy (PALM or pPALM), Transportin.
