My colleagues’ expertise is simply in a league of its own!My recent experiences include advising Hy24 and Mirova on their record €200 million investment in green hydrogen pioneer Hy2gen AG and again Hy24 on the largest capital increase in the hydrogen refuelling sector at the time as well as UNITED Marketing Technologies by DuMont on its acquisition of a 75.1% stake in artegic, Germany's leading SaaS provider of real-time marketing automation software.

During my time at Hengeler Mueller, I added to my wealth of experience in particular by providing comprehensive advice on large cap mandates as well as to a private equity investor with an aggressive buy & build strategy. A highlight was certainly the very challenging advice to Elanco on the acquisition of Bayer Animal Health for USD 6.4 billion. Advising Waterland on acquisitions in the healthcare sector allowed me to advise on transactions with individual entrepreneurs from the opposite perspective of a financial investor as the buyer. Perhaps not the most spectacular mandate, but one I always look back on fondly because of the very pleasant cooperation with all parties involved, was advising Fashion ID/Peek & Cloppenburg on the acquisition of the insolvent luxury eCommerce store Stylebop, where I gained intensive experience in the fashion industry.

My career start at Gleiss Lutz was characterized by the start-up atmosphere that we had at the time at the newly opened office in Düsseldorf. I was very quickly entrusted with responsible tasks and my learning curve was accordingly very steep. I certainly also benefited from my experience collected as a research assistant at Hengeler Mueller and as a trainee lawyer at Shearman & Sterling and Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek. I still benefit from the good training provided by my partners, my "senior" Jan-Christoph Pfeffer and, last but not least, within the framework of the Gleiss Lutz Academy. In more than seven years, I have worked on many exciting mandates. Most remarkable was advising E.ON on the sale of numerous production facilities (coal and gas-fired power plants, solar and wind power plants, hydroelectric power plant) in Italy, which kept us busy for more than two years. However, I also remember the mandates in which we advised entrepreneurs on the sale of their life's work in the context of an external corporate succession through M&A - an advisory situation that regularly requires special empathy and in which I still enjoy advising again and again. The best example of this was advising the Neußer family on the sale of the Bonner Generalanzeiger publishing house to the Rheinische Post media group.

My secondment in the Private Equity Transactions group of the very renowned and market leading law firm Ropes & Gray in Boston gave me deep insights into the standardized and institutionalized advice of private equity investors in the US. I am still impressed by how different the perception of a potential PE buyer by a seller is in the US and in Germany. Where in Germany there are still concerns about the alleged "grasshopper", private equity buyers are welcomed in the US mainly because of their professionalism.
