About Mrudang Savsani
I am a recent graduate with B.S. Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. I have always been an aviation enthusiast from a young age, building and flying my own RC planes with my Dad. Now, I am looking for an entry-level full-time position as an engineer after graduation in December 2020. I have internship experience at Space Tango where I worked as a SolidWorks Designer. I have also written a master’s level research paper on “Inexpensive UAV for Disaster Relief”, ready to be published. I am skilled in CAD designing with experience in Matlab, VBA coding, and Simulink. Structural Engineer
Turbine Hardware Designer - Ge Aviation
Aerospace Design Engineer - Advanced Military Fighter turbine design supporting GE Aviation - Successfully presented PDR to stakeholders for low pressure turbine hardware; utilizing NX and ANSYS Workbench to design and analyze the hardware to improve the design by 2x, meeting customers’ requirements- Collaborated with interdisciplinary teams (Stress, Thermal, Aerodynamics, Manufacturing, Materials) to ensure producibility while limiting errors during manufacturing process to reduce overall cost of hardware in its lifetime.- Iteratively analyzed the hardware using ANSYS to calculate strength, fatigue, fracture mechanics, modal frequencies and wear while staying within the design margin of the material and neighboring hardware. Wrote and maintained ICDs to scope the limits of the design envelope. - Developed new methods to use the CAD ecosystem to validate and improve the design - Researched alternatives materials to be used to reduce overall cost of delivered hardware - Mentored and trained fellow engineers in using NX, ANSYS Workbench and GE internal softwares; wrote training documentation- Eagle Award Recipient
Aerospace Design Engineer - Virgin Galactic
Product Design Engineer supporting Virgin Galactic • Improved designs of detail, assemblies, and installations of the landing gear subsystem of a space aircraft, incorporating the ASME Y14.1, Y14.5 and customer’s specifications to the drawings using Catia V5• Performed drawing reviews to ensure the deliverables met the customer’s requirements • Collaborated with the customer to troubleshoot technical problems on the aircraft
Mechanical Cubelab Designer
• Engineered an effective schematic of a new autonomous subsystem for CubeLabs, ensuring to meet the client’s requirements, later launched to the ISS• Effectively designed the system by maintaining a constant stream of communication with stakeholders regarding project specification and logistics, resulting in an efficient subsystem that ran for 30 days autonomously on the ISS • Experimented with 3D printed manifold designed in SolidWorks to test its feasibility under the influence of microgravity to ensure project success
Part Time Grant-Funded Interactive Technology Student Intern
I am a lead designer in a small research team working with Arduino microcontrollers and 3D printing to design an interactive coaster. This internships objective is to teach students the basics of research in engineering and show them how the classroom theories can be applied in the real world on a smaller scale. In the research team, my main part was to design a coaster in Solidworks which is not only spacious in the inside to fit all the electronics but small enough to look appealing to a customer.
