As a judge at Wayne County Third Circuit Court since 2017, I have handled various criminal cases, including violent crimes, drug offenses, and financial frauds. I have also overseen a Mental Health Court docket, which provides specialized treatment and supervision for defendants with mental health issues. Through this program, I have helped reduce recidivism and improve public safety and health outcomes.In addition to my regular duties, I have served on the Court’s Executive Committee and Strategic Planning Team, where I have contributed to the development and implementation of the Court’s vision, mission, and goals. I am also the Judicial Sponsor of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, which aims to promote a culture of respect and inclusion within the Court and the community. Furthermore, I have been appointed by the Michigan Supreme Court to serve on the Michigan Continuing Judicial Education Board. I have presented both locally and internationally on various topics, such as domestic violence, conflict of interest, diversity and inclusion, and felony sentencings. Before joining the bench, I was an Assistant Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney, where I prosecuted thousands of criminal cases and led the Mortgage and Deed Fraud Task Force. I have also been active in many community and civic organizations, such as the Leaders Advancing and Helping Communities, the Dearborn Board of Education, and the Arab American Political Action Committee. I hold a JD degree from Wayne State University Law School and a BS degree in Political Science and Government from University of Michigan-Dearborn. I am passionate about serving the public, advancing justice, and enhancing diversity and equity in the legal system.
