In this position, I am responsible for analysis, communication, and development of data integrations between different data sets within and outside the community college. Using primarily N2N Illuminate application and Ellucian's Ethos API development environments, I create REST APIs that our vendors can connect to and get, put, or post data. I am responsible for development of new web UI elements within Ellucian Experience platform using React.js as well as process work flows through Ellucian Workflow 2.0 (aka ProcessMaker) using PHP, javascript, and APIs for scripting.

I work on the Programmer team specializing in HR and Payroll systems. My primary coding languages here include Oracle PL/SQL, Unix Shell, and occasionally Java. My responsibilities involve creating processes or reports using PL/SQL which are executed through Banner Job Submission, scheduled jobs in UC4 (Automic Application Manager), or Banner Workflow. I work with outside vendors to coordinate new or updated data file transfer processes. I also work closely with the HR and Payroll departments to determine what changes they need to reports or automated processes. A large part of my duties here have been to replace the heavily used Hyperion reporting system with Job Submission, UC4, Cognos, or something else.We coordinate projects through a Footprints ticketing system and I have helped to setup an environment for programmers to use SVN version control. Since I've started here, I've helped in developing new tools, scripts, and procedures to help the programming team standardize and modularize how our programs work and improve maintainability.Some of those would include:- A generalized job sub shell to run custom sql files so that multiple custom shells would not be needed.- A Java program to analyze ODS (Oracle Data Store) metadata to more easily cross search from the ODS back to the Banner tables.- Expanded UC4/Automic template scripts to improve readability and usability in using common templates.- Standardizing directory paths and how they change in each database environment through Oracle directory values and post cloning scripts.- A Java program to take XML and XSL input files from a PL/SQL package and transform them into chart images, Excel, PDF, or other file formats so that prettier reports can be generated out of Banner Job Submission, UC4, or other programs.

I work on the Programmer team specializing in HR and Payroll systems. I work closely with the business functional teams to make sure reports and processes are functioning how they should and identify procedure changes that IT could implement. Most of my work involves creating replacements for the old reporting tool Hyperion with either Banner Job Submission jobs, UC4/Automic scheduled jobs, Cognos reports, or coming up with alternative solutions.My typical work day involves many different parts of managing a project from conception to completion. I review requirements and manage progress through our Footprints ticket system. I create the necessary scripts and pass them through our SVN version control server. I request deployments for each testing environment and each step from database scripts, server setup, and banner access setup. I perform code reviews for my colleagues' programming projects and meet with different teams to discuss current and future projects. Our project deployment process typically uses the waterfall approach, but can occasionally use agile development for larger projects.

I worked as the Integration contact for the shipping system team. I helped manage new web service integrations to the application and work with development teams to upgrade existing integration configurations. I worked with a tool called DataStage to build and improve backend jobs that validate and process different kinds of data including updating user account data from HR systems. I assisted with the resolution of application problems by doing data, code, and application research. I was a SOx control performer for several different auditing controls dealing with the application and our data security. I assisted with migrating from SVN to a Git repository. While working here, I've worked with a few technologies including Datastage, Oracle, Toad, Unix scripting, and Crystal Reports.

I worked as a java application developer on many client projects. The web apps were primarily employee recognition programs that can allow employees to recognize each other and assign award points to be redeemed through the rewards program eShop. I maintained a lead developer role on the projects for Comcast, Asurion, American Express, Harrahs, Bank of America, Marriott, and Hyatt.My daily tasks usually involved bug fixing and new feature development using the in house java based web application framework which utilized java to build XSL pages. The various applications were built with either maven, gradle, or ant and hosted on JBoss or Tomcat servers. We used Git, SVN, and TFS version control for different projects, and SQL Server or Oracle databases. I estimated development efforts, worked with offshore teams, provided reports for the business operations team, ran various file processes through unix scripts and cronjobs, and more. While working here, I've worked with many different applications and technologies including SQL Server, Oracle, Toad, Eclipse, Maven, Gradle, Ant, JBoss, Tomcat, Java 5 - Java 7, XML, XSL, TFS, SVN, Git, Hibernate, and Unix.

August: Designed and built an MS Access database for a History professor to display historical artifact information on an ASPX webpage.October: Built a website in PHP for a professor of Management at Missouri State University to promote his books on self help and parenting and provide links to resources which he references in the book.February: Developed a website in PHP for a local insurance company that specializes in church insurance to replace their old website.March: Developed a website in PHP for a party rental company that focuses on inflatable rides to help promote their business and replace their old site.March: Developed a website in PHP for a local St. Louis business.

• Assisted with websites for clients (including Johns Manville, GM, and Nissan) by designing java classes for transporting files to the database and structured into a defined hierarchy in the Eclipse development environment and Microsoft's SQL Server.• Co-Developed with another intern as an example of pair programming.• Researched Spring and Hibernate frameworks for consideration in future projects.• Building transportables (file transfers to database), working on data flow diagrams, moving projects to new repositories, etc.
