Eva Thomas is a director, writer and producer. She recently directed episodes for CBC's "Still Standing" and wrote for CTV's comedy series "Shelved", CBC Gem's "Zarqa", the CTV/APTN series "Acting Good" and the upcoming Crave/APTN series "Don’t Even". As an Associate Producer, Eva contributed to the feature film "Night Raiders" directed by Danis Goulet. She has also worked as a Director's Assistant on Darlene Naponse's "Stellar" and Director Shadow on Gail Maurice's "Rosie". Eva recently directed her own short film, "Redlights", which premiered at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023 and she is currently developing a feature film script based on it, supported by Telefilm and the Indigenous Screen Office. Recently, Eva produced the Telefilm Talent-to-Watch project "Green Hill", written and directed by Winnipeg-based filmmaker Roger Boyer. She also co-wrote / co-directed the feature "Aberdeen" with Winnipeg-based filmmaker Ryan Cooper. Eva served as Executive Producer on Kaniehtiio Horn’s feature film directorial debut "Seeds".. With a passion for diverse storytelling and the portrayal of Indigenous people in contemporary contexts, Eva has participated in prestigious industry programs. She completed the 2021 BIPOC Showrunner Bootcamp Training Program and the 2021 Women in the Director's Chair Career Advancement Module. She was also selected for the 2022 Banff SPARK Accelerator for Women in the Business of Media and was part of the 2023 TIFF Filmmakers Lab.Eva is dedicated to mentorship and has guided numerous writers in various programs, such as the imagineNATIVE Features Lab, MAGEE TV Diverse Writers Program, Women in Film & Television-Vancouver's Tricksters and Writers Program, and the Banff Arts Centre's 'Write Over Here' Indigenous Screenwriting Residency.Eva is a member of Walpole Island First Nation, and her diverse heritage includes Tohono O'odham, Cherokee, and Scottish roots.
