With five years of experience as a Prevention Specialist at Rhode Island Army National Guard and thirteen as an Army Musician, I am passionate about providing resources and educational opportunities that help people achieve their highest level of well-being and authenticity. I am certified to train Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), and I use a multi-disciplinary approach that combines arts, philosophy, wellness, and evidence-based practices to address the whole person.My most contemporary research, demonstrated in my capstone master's thesis, focused on the mediation of ideology and State interest through the cultural productions of Army Musicians / creative workers which serve to secure cultural hegemony and citizen support through "music-for-the-state". Other research interests of mine include the narrativizing of climate change as a national security risk, the role of leadership and design in developing small and specialized democratic teams, as well as the aesthetic dimensions of controversial art forms. Foregrounding any work I do is the deeply held belief that work in the 21st Century requires divergent and creative problem solving, inter- and cross-disciplinary research standards, and an unwavering sense of duty to make a meaningful difference on the lives of others, human and non-human alike.A dedicated animal rights advocate, I have volunteered with Mercy For Animals on their policy initiative involving plant-based meals for service members. In that capacity I spoke on the veteran's experience as a vegan, wrote quotes for white papers, and provided recordings to be shared with various policy stakeholders in hopes of garnering support for the initiative. It is my post-Army career goal to pursue positions of support and leadership working on the issues of animal advocacy, the climate crisis, and other existential issues of our day that impact both human and non-human lives alike.
