Author, tech writer, manager, and leadership mentor.Maurice is a developer documentation writer and designer who knows how to code... and how to manage. A Silicon Valley veteran whose worked at the major players (Apple, eBay, Intuit), and at startups, he's now located in the Raleigh/Durham area. His passion is mentoring leaders in creating high performance, high engagement, high satisfaction team, something he's been doing for over 30 years. He started as an Apple intern developing a prototype of the Newton Toolkit. Then spent the next several years creating sample code, tech tips, and giving tech talks, enabling third party developers creating solutions for Newton, and then Palm. After building eBay's Developer Technical Support (DTS group) and helping PayPal build theirs, he returned to coding, creating iOS Apps for himself and for clients. He has made significant contributions to apps including Ready95014 (long in the tooth), Gluey (most of the UX & Logic), and ShopWell (most of it). Maurice has been an ex-officio advisor to a few startups including MileIQ. He's also given workshops on effective use of story in everything from personal presentations to VC pitches. He rebuilt the Android and iOS app team at Couchsurfing, and lead them through creating one major app and starting another through two startup pivots (which resulted in neither app shipping.) During that time he wrote "Learning iOS Development" for Addison-Wesley leading him back to Apple in the Developer Publications group. Now he's back to enabling developers at Okta, this time in content strategy with a bit of documentation. He also continues to deepen his learning in mentoring including a successful method for assessing and shifting culture.
