A Certified Fundraising Executive with more than 20 years of experience in nonprofit organizations (including 17 years in senior leadership), I am a card-carrying "nonprofit geek." My core belief is that organizations can best achieve their mission if they have strong management, fundraising, and leadership - and I strive to provide all three.I went to law school because I wanted to help ensure that everyone - regardless of their income, social status, or communities they live in and serve - can access quality legal representation to help achieve their goals. I spent the first part of my career providing real-world, plain-English training and technical assistance for nonprofit organizations on key legal and operational issues and, along the way, increased my knowledge and understanding of nonprofit management, fundraising, and leadership. After nearly a decade of providing services to hundreds of nonprofits, I decided I could have a deeper impact by taking my skills "in-house" and began my first role as an Executive Director. Since then, I have served as chief executive and in other leadership roles for several charities and associations - using best practices (and modifying them when needed!), helping to define goals and implement the steps to achieve them, securing funding and other support to make it possible and, ultimately, increasing their engagement and impact.I'm fortunate that my volunteer work also allows me to focus on impact. I serve on the board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Atlanta Chapter to help equip and support the dedicated professionals who are raising the money that makes change possible. I am honored to be part of the League of Women Voters for Atlanta-Fulton County, because EVERYONE has the right to participate in the democratic process - and to be fully informed when they cast their vote. And I love being part of USC's First-Generation Mentorship program, because the next generation of leaders is going to do amazing things - and I hope sharing my experiences can help some brave, expectation-defying first-gen professionals make their impact in the world.Outside the office, I refill my spirit on music, all things Marvel and Star Wars, table-top games, classic villains and monsters and - at the core of it all - the love of my family and God.
