As a designer at Absecon Mills, I am responsible for contributing innovative designs, constructions, and colorways. While collaborating with the two other designers, I also assist with creating our presentation and inspiration boards . We then will use these as a reference when developing new fabrics for our open line and other special collections. Other developments include customs request that come in from various customers or sales team members. I utilize both Pointcarre on a Windows platform and JacqCAD on a MAC platform. Other responsibilities include digitally upholstering our fabrics in order to enhance presentations and grow sales, as well as hand weaving small samples for either customs or new products.We also have a sister company, Douglass Industries, who provides quality contract seating fabrics, panel fabrics, vinyls, faux leathers, urethanes, and foam to a broad spectrum of markets. I have occasionally worked with their Design Department to help cultivate various collections and trend boards as well as various trade show displays.

As the Assistant Fabric Designer, I was responsible for helping with all aspects of the designing process (fabric construction, artwork, re-sizing, colorways, etc..). I did a large majority of the CAD work for outside mill customers and also the Woolrich blanket division working with NedGraphics on a Windows platform. I was also responsible for the scheduling of sample fabric orders and maintaining the yarn library, fabric styles and standards.

As the design Intern, I was responsible for carrying out tasks to help the various designers in the department. Some tasks might have included putting inspiration boards together, color matching and heat transferring designs for sample production, or helping put the finishing touches on display boards. I also created artwork to help designers carry out their concepts.

Working with Professor Janet Brady, I assisted with various standardized ASTM and AATCC testing and evaluations in the Grundy Center for Material Testing and Evaluation.

Summer Internship- Worked in the fabric library, cataloging and organizing domestic and international fabric swatches of various constructions to build up the fabric database.- Worked in the lab, assisted with various test methods.- Farnsworth- Munsell 100- Hue Color Test: Total Error Score of 20 on 1st test.

Summer Internship- Worked in the fabric design department in the mill and assisted the fabric designer and quality control manager- Spent time in other departments such as the finishing department and the lab- Tasks included creating CAD’s of fabrics for potential customers, redesigning and creating various color ways for new or old designs, helping pull together ideas for new collections - Traveled to Paris in September 2012 to help show the final Fall/Winter’12-’13 collection at Premiere Vision and experienced Tex World as wellVogue Footwear “Ranch Hand Collection”  Assisted in redesigning and creating new color ways of an archive fabric that was then used on boots and showcased as a floor display in Macy’sWoolrich Inc. “Bright Blankets SPR 13” Created various bright color ways after redesigning an hombre plaid from an archive swatchCreated various color ways of herringbone and hounds-tooth plaids that were used in producing hats for a company based in Germany
