For over 20 years, I have been leading the development and application of artificial intelligence, agent technology, and sensor technology to create intelligent personal assistants for various domains, such as daily living, healthcare, and wellness. As a co-founder of Ejenta, a San Francisco based company that leverages NASA's exclusively licensed agent platform, I have been driving the innovation and growth of Ejenta's products and services, which aim to improve the quality of life and well-being of people around the world. In parallel, I have also been heading the Nissan Advanced Technology Center in Silicon Valley, where I oversee the research and development of AI solutions for autonomous cars, connected vehicles and services, and human-centered design for human-machine interaction. With my extensive background in computer science, cognitive science, and agent programming languages, and my passion for creating systems that cooperate, coordinate, and collaborate with humans, I have been recognized as one of the most creative and influential people in the business and technology fields, receiving multiple awards and honors from prestigious organizations and publications.

Director - Knowledge, Language & Interaction (Kli)Parc Jul 2010 - Nov 2011Palo Alto, California, UsCreated and managed the Knowledge, Language & Interaction (KLI) area at PARC (formerly Xerox PARC) as a new area within the Intelligent Systems Laboratory focussing on agent-based workflow systems for healthcare. The KLI area specializes in research and development of intelligent agents for intelligent document interaction, knowledge extraction and natural language.Principal Investigator and designer of the Digital Nurse. The Digital Nurse is a personal agent for supporting nurses in their daily patient-care activities. The Digital Nurse is an integrated healthcare workflow environment that integrates with the Electronic Medical Record, Medication and Laboratory systems, and uses a Real-Time Location System to locate the nurse. The Digital Nurse is a distributed multi-agent system. Brahms and Java was used to design, simulate and implement the Digital Nurse system. -
Senior Research Scientist, Intelligent Systems Division, Nasa Ames Research CenterNasa Apr 1998 - Jul 2010Washington, Dc, UsCo-Inventor and Principal Investigator of Brahms, a well-known Java-based multi-agent programming language and human behavior simulation environment in use at NASA's Mission Control for the International Space Station. Brahms is used widely by researchers and universities around the world.Principal investigator for the first distributed multi-agent system in NASA’s Mission Control Center for the International Space Station, responsible for acquiring project funding, the design and development, all interaction with NASA Johnson Space Center’s management for Mission Control. Responsible for managing the development and deployment of this workflow automation system (OCAMS) for automating the work for flight controllers in NASA’s Mission Control Center for the International Space Station. OCAMS has been running 24x7 since July of 2008 at NASA's Johnson Space Center, saving NASA millions of dollars in mission operations for the International Space Station. Co-Principal investigator, designer and project lead of the Mobile Agent Architecture (MAA). The MAA is a distributed intelligent personal agent platform for people and robots. From 2002-2006, managed a more than 20 person research effort. The MAA was used in simulations of human-robot exploration of Mars for the Mars Desert Research Station and DesertRATS programs in the Utah and Arizona desert. Personal agents were used to integrate human-robot interaction using natural language voice recognition, GPS navigation, health-monitoring sensors for both people and robots, as well as automating mission information flow via satellite.Principal investigator of the Individual Mobile Agent System (iMAS). iMAS is used as a personal assistant for astronauts, for health and life-support monitoring during Extra-Vehicular Activities in spacesuits. The astronaut uses natural language voice recognition to interact with his/her personal agent. -
