Federal Advocacy Captains are at the intersection of federal arts advocacy in America. We are individuals, who represent arts and culture organizations at the state and/or local levels with a mission to advance the arts. We understand that advancing arts policies and legislation at the federal level will have a direct impact on the arts and culture organizations within our jurisdiction. We are the connectors between the grassroots and a unified federal advocacy program produced in collaboration with Americans for the Arts and the Arts Action Fund. All Federal Advocacy State and District captains serve as the eyes and ears on the ground for the arts advocacy field to identify new policy considerations (both positive and negative) and then share these with the collective network so that others, including Americans for the Arts’ Government Affairs and Arts Action Fund Staff, can be aware of programs emerging from all corners of the country, which could affect the arts field. This also allows us the collective to stay informed of what’s happening in Congressional members’ home states and districts, especially for our congressional leaders, so they can stay up to date on big arts policy developments at the local level.

In addition to fulfilling the duties of the Executive Director position* Collaborating with administration, planning, and execution of a pilot workforce development statewide program with 2 regional arts councils and the Inland Empire Community Foundation to obtain a $4.8 million dollar grant, resulting in the largest admin award obtained for CDAC in the amount of $115,000 over two years.* Administration and execution of first large scale, local economic data collection of arts and culture events in the Coachella Valley by partnering with Americans for the Arts. Results of data will expand access for organizations and artists to make the case for drawing down more money from State, County, and, potentially Federal, resources.* Collaborating with administration, planning, and execution of a strategic framework for the arts and culture industries across Riverside and San Bernardino Counties called Arts Coalition of Inland SoCal.* Securing significant earned media coverage through strategic media relations initiatives, resulting in increased brand visibility and positive public perception.* Arts Advocate, Sacramento, CA, 2024* Creative Economy Panel Speaker, CA Economic Summit, 2023* Arts Advocate, Capitol Hill, 2023

* Created solution for a grant amendment with COD where we saved $64,000 while expanding, and sponsoring participant access to our newly created Digital Arts & Media Certificate with PaCE at College of the Desert* Developing Phase 2 of the above mentioned certificate program with a workforce development center that is in the beginning stages for Digital Arts and Media* Expanded outreach to other arts organizations resulting in partnerships that have benefited over 200 students in every Coachella Valley School District* Currently a Digital Arts and Technology Academy mentor for 4 students in at Cathedral City High School. Our organization will also be sponsoring the mentor luncheon in May of this year

I Co-Chaired the Opportunity Youth and Young Adult Committee with OneFuture Coachella Valley. In this role I helped coordinate and facilitate work that aims to understand disconnected youth in the Coachella Valley. I also served as a member of the California Opportunity Youth Network (COYN) through this alignment team. While I have stepped down as co-chair, I remain part of the alignment team. Through this work, we hope to create more resources and opportunities for 16-25 year olds that will lead to higher paying jobs and a better economic future for them and our community.

Duties of my position include, but are not limited to:- Oversee staff of 11 including case managers, anti-human trafficking specialists, and anti-human trafficking clinicians.- Grant management and administration- Develop outreach presentations to the community at large.- Develop training presentations for service providers (ex. foster family agencies, group home staff, hospital staff, and anyone else who, through their job, may come into contact with a victim/survivor of human trafficking).- Coordinate awareness events within Riverside County, CA.- Serve as the Victim Service Coordinator for the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task ForceOther accomplishments in this position include:- Serving as the keynote speaker for several conferences and conventions in Riverside County.- Presenting to several high level, International Dignitaries about our county's anti-human trafficking efforts, as well as the collaboration of our task force.

The Cup of Happy program is a prevention and early intervention program focused on the de-stigmatizing mental health issues for youth 16-25 years of age. The focus is on providing healthy lifestyles and emotional wellness through a number of different programs that include creative writing courses, open mic nights, youth leadership classes, and LGBTQ support groups. Cup of Happy promotes these activities through health fairs, school campuses, school clubs/organizations, Youth Opportunity Centers and local youth “hangouts”. Some of my duties included:Employee scheduling, budgeting, time management, continuing education, coordinating our program with schools/organizations throughout the Coachella Valley from Banning to North Shore, networking, & social media maintenance.

After our morning news woman left, I was asked to take on the duty of reporting news for AM drive on 3 of our cluster's stations; 93.7 KCLB, 94.3 KNWZ, and Crush 103.9. Each morning I report not only breaking news, but local news, as well as traffic conditions when the situation arises.

Accepting a job across the country might seem like a daunting task for some, but it's been one of my better decisions and has brought me back to my radio roots: Morning Show Co-Hosting. With coffee in hand each morning I prepare for the day by prepping with my Morning Show 'Other Half' and also reporting on news for my morning show, as well as two other stations in our cluster. From breaking news, to current events, and even my segment on Hollywood BS, I find something to say about anything and everything.

Line dancing, two stepping, and swing dancing all happened in the studio while I worked for KISS Country. Granted I was by myself, but who says you can't dance alone?As for what they paid me for, I handled the Saturday midday shift (10a-2p) and I occasionally filled in for various dayparts when they were out sick or on vacation. In addition, I was lucky enough to be a part of the production team for the South Florida Chili Cookoff and was even there when Jessica Simpson wore her infamous 'Mom' jeans on stage and made magazine covers everywhere.

While at Metro Networks, I was one of the 'Go To' people. From reporting on traffic for radio and television stations all across the state of Florida, to flying in our helicopter and providing South Florida aerial audio and video coverage, I could accomplish any task put before me. A true Go Getter with an eye for news, there were no happier times for me than when I could cover stories, such as car chases or accidents that shut down freeways, as they were happening. In addition to my traffic duties, I also created Spec spots for our sales team to take to their potential sponsors.

While working at OMG, I was the voice you heard while you were waiting to speak to the person you actually called. Yup, I was one of the On Hold voices. You can probably still hear some of my work from the tip of Florida, all across the country and even into Canada. In addition to voicing on hold recordings, I also handled scripts for narration such as a tour that takes you through Ketchikan, Alaska and website vocal instructions.

After hounding the Program Director for more than 6 months, I was finally able to get my foot in the door by becoming one of the cluster's News Reporters. I covered everything from school board meetings to house fires to crimes within the city and recorded new segments to be played on several of our stations.After several months, I became part of the Variety 97.7 FM air staff and had the pleasure of holding a couple different positions such as Night Show Host, Midday Gal, and Weekender. Because of our smaller market size, there weren't always a lot of people to go around, so I helped out in Promotions when needed as well.

I started out as an intern, who was seen as having so much promise (basically I was really good at making the coffee) that they hired me to be the first official Morning Show Co-Host. In addition to my morning show gig (that I did while completing my Senior year in High School) I was also given a Sunday show from 9a - 1p. What I learned during my time here, such as leaving my baggage at the studio door when I got there and the perfect songs for bathroom breaks, was invaluable and set the course for my broadcasting career.
