Nicole is a curriculum designer, teacher trainer, and science education specialist.Nicole was recently a member of a design team responsible for writing and piloting an NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) aligned middle school science curriculum for the Oakland and Berkeley Unified School Districts. Nicole was responsible for the training and support of 40 pilot teachers in 13 schools across the district. Nicole and her team assessed the effectiveness of the curriculum through teacher observations and analyses of student work and revised as needed. Nicole planned district-wide trainings for teachers to develop skills in the areas of engineering design, inquiry based education, scientific literacy and argumentation, interactive cognitive notebooks, and helped to increase the academic rigor of learning opportunities. Nicole Solis is a K-12 veteran teacher with 20+ years of classroom experience. Nicole has taught in classrooms throughout Northern California and in rural Bolivia, focusing on public institutions.
