Inspire historically marginalized communities to engage with local politics. From learning what and how to do a phone bank in different languages, I had the opportunity to meet community members where they are in their understanding of government, while creating a plan to build more, together.

• Spearheaded team-based consultancy project for the organization to develop a teacher workforce diversity program and engage with policy stakeholders in the education field.
• Practiced storytelling through identity-development leadership frameworks based on Harvard Kennedy School’s (Marshall Ganz) Public Narrative Framework.

• Launched a series of 7 teacher authored blogs to amplify educator voice focused on the importance of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) that later transformed into the current Advisory Committee.
• Designed an asynchronous learning module, in Spanish and English, for over 18K educators at the School District of Philadelphia (SDP) focused on promoting safe environments, relationship building and social awareness.
• Conceptualized a 1-year media and communications plan with the Sr Associate of Communications to highlight the SEL Integration Approach framework, case studies, and an educator assessment tool.
• Spearheaded 8 projects that included assessing internal equity policies for executive leadership, partnering with 50 school districts nationally, and a professional development series for the Boston After School and.
• Advised district leaders in the development of multi-tiered systems of supports around mental health and social-emotional wellbeing through the MA Department of Education Academy.
• Structured an internal evaluation system to increase quality of facilitation and consulting practice by collecting partner feedback and implementing a set of recommendations for the partnerships team.

• Co-led focus groups with educators and family members for 5 Boston Public Schools (BPS) and 1 community center in East Boston to assess the needs of immigrant students and identify educator supports.
• Consolidated a report with findings that included short-mid-long-term recommendations for BPS Central Office on how to better serve immigrant youth, and 4 opportunities for MOIA to partner with the District.
• Partnered with Irish International Immigrant Center to design a professional development series for the BPS New Teacher Summer Institute on the US immigration system and school policies.

Greater Boston

• Conceptualized the RISE (Re-Imagine Identity, Self, and Excellence) conference for 100 juniors, that offered community-building activities, identity development workshops, 1:1 mentoring from students at the graduate.
• Led the training, communication, and logistics for a team of 20 adult volunteers and 25 community partner organizations for the event.

Bronx, NYC

• Selected and interviewed non-English speaking families with 3K, Pre-K, and Kindergarten aged children to recommend school enrollment in the Bronx area.
• Focused on identifying the needs of families to ensure a streamlined student enrollment process and support family advocacy.

Brooklyn, New York, United States

• Devised the Family Engagement Vision Statement for the 2017-2018 school year to strengthen relationships between staff and parents.
• Designed an interdisciplinary and culturally relevant curriculum for Spanish speakers.
• Pioneered the women’s basketball team and coordinated empowering assemblies in an effort to inspire body positivity, wellness and a stronger sense of solidarity among marginalized communities.

Houston, Texas Area

• Coached novice and veteran teachers on ELL strategies, family engagement, relationship building, and classroom management strategies that were affirming, rather than subtractive of student identity.
• Advocated for and trained 2 paraprofessionals to offer in-classroom academic support for students with interrupted formal education (SIFE) and Emerging Bilinguals (ELL).
• Recruited and mentored students to design, collaborate and execute activities: assemblies, weekly newscast productions, English classes for parent, and a monthly newspaper in Spanish.
• Strengthened school-teacher-family relationships for staff who lacked culturally responsive training through home visits and parent-teacher conferences in Spanish and English.
• Planned 3 collaborative events between college students, professionals, and high school counselors to inform families each year of post-secondary opportunities for students.
• Executed cultural events such as Celebra Tu Cultura, a Latino Heritage Month event to honor 120 Latino parents with poetry and a student-written play about immigration.
