I am a communications specialist working in external and internal communications. This means that I write a lot - corporate, sales and technical literature, newsletters, websites, scripts, training manuals, press material, business plans etc - but I also work out how to deliver messages to key audiences such as existing or potential customers, workforce, neighbours etc effectively and efficiently. Once written, the material needs a delivery vehicle: print, electronic, DVD, Internet, direct mail, events, promotions, so I organise these things too. I have worked for some major organisations, including Business Link, Dynamit Nobel, DuPont, Electrolux, Forte, Siemens, Virgin, Xerox, and a lot of smaller businesses (and I do mean a lot). I can also help work out what the message should be and to whom it should be delivered, by doing small scale research. Because I have been doing this sort of work for a long time (I started young), I bring to projects that I undertake a lot of experience and general knowledge about how businesses work, how they buy and how they can best be reached. I enjoy what I do and greet each new project with relish, as an opportunity to learn and to help create success. I am not 'just a consultant'. I have been a partner in various enterprises, some of which have been successful and some not so, all of which were instructive. These include part ownership of a beer brand (I have worked a lot in the drinks industry, which is strange given that I have never been able to acquire the taste for alcohol). I have also been a manager and a director of a few businesses and made some strategic alliances with key suppliers and aligned services from time to time.Specialties: Writing external and internal communications material for marketing, training and motivation.
