Ma. Sharlene Reyanne S. Mercado, or Sha is a photographer, graphic designer, filmmaker, and a development worker from Cagayan de Oro City, Northern Mindanao, Philippines.She is the first fellow for the Tommy Schultz Impact Media two-month long grant under the Large Marine Vertebrates Research Institute Philippines (LAMAVE) in Palawan, Philippines. Also, through this grant, she became a Jackson Wild Summit Preliminary and Special Jury Awards judge for 2023. She wants to use her skills to help advocate change. To help achieve her goals, she worked with an NGO for at least three years. She worked with indigenous peoples (IP) of Mt. Kalatungan in Bukidnon, who showed her the realities of the current situation of the Philippine forest and the dynamics of protecting and rehabilitating the environment while being an IP.She is also passionate for conservation and development work. She wants to dedicate her skills and knowledge in making our world a more tolerable place, especially for those who are directly affected by the climate crisis.She has worked as a graphic artist with NGOs, other organizations, and individuals in developing their Logos, Branding, Posters, IDs, Brochures, Leaflets, Banners, Invitations, T-shirt designs, etc.She has been passionate with photography since 2008. She also worked professionally as photo editor and as a photographer for events like company events, weddings, birthdays, and product shoot.She has also co-produced and co-directed documentary films and short films. One of her films as a co-director and co-producer won the Main Category in the 1st Cine de Oro Film Festival.Her goal is to collaborate with organizations or individuals that has the same values as hers. She is currently taking a certification course online for An Introduction to Behavior-Centered Design by Rare.
