Experienced in theatrical costuming, Shannon has created costumes for showgirls, burlesque legends, performance troupes and stage productions. Focusing on fit, function and finishing, she approaches all projects with an eye for detail and an entrepreneurial spirit. Shannon specializes in dressmaking, modifying flat patterns, embellishment, break away garments, hand picked zippers, knock offs, recycling and repurposing existing garments, working within a tight budget, shopping, sourcing, and using unconventional materials. Shannon also has extensive experience teaching sewing skills and techniques in both the private and group setting. Teaching classes as large as 40, she takes pride in coaching would-be costumers in areas such as basic hand and machine sewing skills, machine troubleshooting and maintenance, intermediate construction techniques (zippers, sleeves, buttonholes, collars, etc.), comprehending commercial patterns, flat pattern alteration, designing for the quick change, fashion history, textiles and garment cleaning/storage/maintenance.She thrives on challenge and welcomes a variety of projects in a wide range of sizes, scale and budget.
