A 49-year veteran of the video display industry - helped evolve early consumer TV technologies for use in new applications such as computer monitors, arcade games, HDTV, and UHDTV.Mark began his video career at Motorola - supporting the company's transition from Quasar consumer televisions to computer monitors. There, Mark developed original tools (video signal generators, video distribution systems, and deflection yoke & CRT testers) for the (then fledgling) computer monitor manufacturing business. By 1980, through Mark's efforts (and those of other pioneers), Motorola's Display Systems Unit had become the largest manufacturer of computer monitors in the US.In late 1979, Mark left Motorola to design original products for a small start-up called Quantum Data. Over time, the company evolved into one of the world's leading test equipment suppliers for designing, certifying, installing, and servicing A/V products. Today, QuantumData-branded Teledyne LeCroy video test instruments pervade the design laboratories and production facilities of leading IT and consumer product manufacturers worldwide. A former CTO, Mark now serves as Sr. Staff Hardware Engineer developing HDMI, DisplayPort, USB, and MIPI C/D-PHY video test equipment products.Mark is a member of IEEE, ACM, SID, ICDM, AES, SMPTE, VESA, UHDA, CEDIA, CTA (formerly CEA), and HDMI Forum. He currently chairs the HDMI Forum's test subgroup (responsible for the HDMI compliance test standard). In the past, Mark has chaired other workgroups, including the UHDA's interop (which addresses AV quality), CTA's R4WG07 (which penned ANSI/CTA-861 - a platform for A/V interfaces such as HDMI and DisplayPort), CTA's & R4WG16 (which penned ANSI/CTA-2038 - for 3D glasses), and the DDWG compliance/interop for DVI.Specialties: Test equipment for certifying, integrating, and solving interoperability problems between A/V interfaces.
