Role: A member of "The Mendelian Project" team. The project aims to perform whole-exome and whole-genome sequencing on patients with Mendelian disorders and their families, to elucidate the molecular and cellular Basis of Mendelian disorders in the UAE.Tasks and Skills:• Wet-lab library preparation and quality control (QC) of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) samples.• Real-Time PCR (qPCR), Genotyping and Sanger sequencing.• Coordination between Genomics Lab and Cell culture Lab for functional studies, including experimental collaboration when necessary.• Variant annotation and prioritization using PhenoDB and VarSeq 2.2.4 software.• Involved in the optimization and development of standard operating protocols (SOP’s) for various genetic and genomic assays, and in preparing cost-estimates for genetic testing services, among other administrative tasks.• Supporting faculty in research projects by independently planning, designing and performing experiments.• Supporting all educational needs of the ongoing M.Sc., PhD and internship programs being implemented in the Genetics and Genomics Department.Systems/Instruments:• NovaSeq™ 6000 - illumina®• MiSeq™ - illumina®• PromethION™-24 - Oxford NANOPORE Technologies• Applied Biosystems SeqStudio Genetic Analyzer - Applied biosystems™• LE220-plus Focused-ultrasonicator - Covaris®• Biomek i7 Automated Workstation - Beckman Coulter™• QIAcube - QIAGEN®• QIAcube HT - QIAGEN®• QIAgility – QIAGEN®• Veriti 96 Well Thermal Cycler - Applied biosystems™• QuantStudio 7 Flex Real-Time PCR System - Applied biosystems™• 4200 TabStation - Agilent Technologies• Qubit 4 Fluorometer - invetrogen™
