The Public Health Associate Program (PHAP) is a highly competitive, two-year program with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). PHAP associates are assigned to public health agencies. As a PHAP associate, I was lucky enough to be assigned to the Chicago Department of Public Health, Immunizations Program and proudly accomplished the following:•Led project to update the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Provider Manual, a resource for all 400+ Chicago VFC providers on general information, guidelines, and requirements of the VFC program.•Led 2017-2018 Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) flu clinic scheduling, collaborated with all 50 Chicago Alderman Offices and partner organizations to schedule over 65 clinics and ensure diverse flu clinic locations.•Collected and analyzed patient demographic data from CDPH’s five federally qualified health center immunization clinics and presented data during leadership's performance quality improvement meetings.•Supported CDPH’s walk-in immunization clinics and the CareVan, a mobile immunization van by registering patients of mainly underserved populations for vaccinations. Assessed immunization records and managed a high volume of patients during back-to-school season, where clinics saw a 75% increase in patient intake.

It houses 45 state-of-the-art labs and is a magnet engaging over 600 Stanford faculty to study life systems at levels of complexity ranging from the molecular to the behavioral.Here, I worked along side colleagues turned friends and enjoyed the:• Coordination of logistics between building occupants and both internal & external vendors, ensuring lab safety.• Managing over 15 calendars using Outlook through scheduling reservation requests and resolving calendaring conflicts.•Aiding with the logistics for symposiums and conferences with over 100 attendees.•Serving as a point of contact for general maintenance, health and safety, and other facility concerns.

University Of Michigan School Of Public Health

Future Public Health Leaders Program (FPHLP), a CDC Undergraduate Public Health Scholar (CUPS) Program, is a highly competitive ,10 week public health summer internship at the University of Michigan to encourage careers in public health. Here, I was ecstatic to be selected out of over 2,000 applicants to join the 2015 cohort of 40 undergrads/ recent grads and had one of the best summers of my life where I:• Engaged in curriculum days twice a week that focused on professional and personal development, team building, and public health lectures. • Worked as an outreach intern at the Genesee County Health Department three days a week. •Participated in a community health needs assessment (CHNA) in Washtenaw County for the Washetenaw Health Initiative (WHI). The FPHLP partnered with the WHI to conduct qualitative research in order to provide data for their countywide health assessment.• Interviewed key informants to inquire their views on what the major health problems were in the community. After interviewing the key informants,a final report was created and presented to the stakeholders of the CHNA. During my summer with the FPHLP (see above), I was assigned to intern at the Genesee County Health Department and was able to:• Create info-graphics by analyzing survey data from the 2013 Speak To Your Health survey, a biannual survey in Genesee County to assess the health of the community. These info-graphics were used for sharing the 2013 findings as well as to promote the upcoming 2015 survey.• Create health briefs and media releases for weekly emails to Genesee County employees.• Actively participate in Speak To Your Health committee meetings and made recommendations for changes in the upcoming 2015 survey. • Compile a master list of tweets for the GCHD Steering Prevention-Reducing Obesity-Utilizing Teamwork (SPROUT) Twitter page about active living & healthy eating.

The Social Impact Internship Program is an internship for SJSU students where to develop and advocate for social impact projects in Santa Clara County.As an intern I was able to:• Create my own social impact project where I was the project lead for the implementation of sustainable gardens in homeless transitional housing and low-income apartments.• Communicate with site coordinators and residents to determine the types of vegetables and fruits that would be most desired. • Raise over $2,500 in donations. • Recruite and coordinated 10 volunteers to help build and maintain the gardens.
