Having been on the leading edge of enterprise streaming video, since 5 years before YouTube became publically available, I’ve long heard from vendors about the benefits of an integrated video conferencing and streaming video approach. That relationship was tenuous for a long time with those services on parallel paths that occasionally intersected. But that is changing rapidly.Video is no longer a new player in the enterprise. It is expected. Video conferences are routinely webcast. Video from an online library is seamlessly inserted into a video conference. End users are routinely creating and publishing their own videos for knowledge sharing within business specific social media platforms. Video conferencing to and from room systems, desktops, mobile devices and within web sites is commonplace.The challenges of video on the horizon now lie within cognitive capabilities for speech to text, image and facial recognition and analysis, accurate machine transcription and translation in real time. Secure cloud based services and more. The possibilities keep expanding which is both exciting and challenging.
