Marta Tarrés-Puertas was born in Manresa, Spain. She spent her childhood in Oliana, a little town in the Pyrenees. Her enthusiasm for computer related fields, lead her to obtain a Master in Informatics Engineering and a Ph.D. in Software/Computing (FIB-UPC).Tarrés has over 20 years of experience in teaching programming courses in virtual and face-to-face environments. Since 2001, she has collaborated as a lecturer for Master's and Bachelor's programs in Computer Science at UOC. Since 2005 she is a lecturer and researcher at UPC. Her technical expertise includes computer science and database management systems. She is fluent in multiple programming languages. Prior to being involved in teaching courses, Tarrés worked in industry at Hewlett Packard-Barcelona Division as a junior engineer.Her research and teaching activity is mainly related to computing, software design and innovation in learning methodologies. Tarrés enjoys reinventing and innovating. She publishes all exercises, data and supplementary material which are available at openCourseWare web-site https://ocwitic.epsem.upc.edu/, for use by other instructors. Also, she has published materials as author and coauthor at UOC. She has directed over 50 projects linked to Bachelor's degrees in ICT and Industrial Technologies, alongside active participation in evaluating 100 projects.From 2007 to 2014, her research activity was primarily focused on the Computer in Engineering research group at ETSEIB. Currently, Tarrés is a member of the SINAPSI (Intelligent and Secure ICT Systems Research Group) RIIS group at UPC Manresa, where she is conducting research related to Industrial IoT challenges and robotics in education. She has been the PI of the Quí-Bot-H2O project, supported by FECYT-Ministerio de Ciencia e InnovaciónBeyond academia, Marta is actively involved in STEAM projects such as @S_cientificos, @technovation, and #looopers, which bridge connections between young minds and scientists/technologists, fostering an increased interest in engineering and science.
