Responsible for the administration and leadership of first-year/undergraduate advising on USC-Columbia’s campus supporting 9,000+ first-year, continuing, and transfer students (32% of undergraduate population). Major responsibilities including the recruitment, hiring, and training of a team of 37 Undergraduate Academic Advisors; building/maintaining relationships with UofSC’s 11 colleges and schools as well as the 25 individual departments within the College of Arts and Sciences; ensuring high-quality onboarding, training, and certification to support high-quality academic advising; participation in joint Employee Performance Management Review processes for a large team; assessing all aspects of the program; directly supervise 1 Coordinator of First-Year Advising and Academic Intervention and indirectly supervise 36 Undergraduate Academic Advisors; and representing the program to multiple on-campus and external constituiencies

I design and teach multiple sections of University 101: The Student in the University, a nationally recognized 3 credit course for first-year students. Course design is centered around academic success, connection to the University, and the development of holistic values, wellness, and employability.

I designed and taught multiple sections of the EDLP 520: The Teacher as Manager. This is a required leadership development course for all first-time, University 101 Peer Leaders. Course content centers around the development of transferrable skills and personal leadership identity development.

I managed the year-round logistics of the nationally recognized University 101 Peer Leader Program including recruiting, developing, and supporting the 220+ peer leaders who co-teach the UNIV 101 first-year seminar alongside university faculty and staff supporting over 4,500 first-year students. In my time with U101, I modified peer leader recruitment efforts including the development of new partnerships across Student and Academic Affairs, social media campaigns, and video production resulting in 166% growth in peer leader nominations and 20% growth in new peer leader applications from 2016 to 2018. I have maintained high programmatic standards while overseeing the 20% program growth required by increases in institutional first-year enrollment. Additionally, I spearheaded the effort to seek and receive national recognition for the University 101 Peer Leader Program as the 2018 NASPA Gold Award in the Student Union, Student Activities, Greek Life, Leadership, and related Excellence Awards category.

I managed Success Connect, an award-winning, comprehensive student retention initiative while utilizing predictive analytics to identify high-risk student populations and tailor interventions to individual student needs. While in the Student Success Center, I achieved 39% growth in faculty referrals for at-risk students during the 2014-2015 academic year and designed and facilitated one-on-one interventions for referred students resulting in a 16% higher retention rate for students who attended interventions compared to those who did not. In an effort to increase productivity and efficiency, I collaborated with students in CSCE 490 to develop a web-based customer relationship management system to streamline communication in the Student Success Call Center and better track and manage data. During my tenure with Success Connect, the program was recognized by University Business as a Model of Excellence in student retention and success.

In this role, I helped pilot Success Connect, a retention initiative, consisting of early alert, outreach to all first-year students, and campus partnerships aimed at identifying students at crisis points in their first year. I also advised undergraduate students assisting them in designing and implementing individual academic plans.
