Field and respond to all inbound volunteer requests; placing / signing up / onboarding one-time volunteers for events, opportunities, resume coaching, etc. Onboard mentors and complete requisite next steps Perform high priority data management: cross referencing, entering clearance information, maintaining guest lists, correspond with prisons and volunteers;Perform event project management. Work with correctional officials and Defy staff to execute in-custody events such as, but not limited to: Executive Coaching and Business Pitch Competitions. Assist in cultivating volunteers to participate in events; Ensure all necessary paperwork and approvals are completed with correctional officials before events.Admissions: Follow up with all participants of CEO YNL upon release so they are connected to community-based programming. Guarantee a fast, efficient and effective admissions process, allowing all applications to be addressed. Maintain a responsive and engaged admissions process through oversight of all recruiting communication channels. Maintain a system that reflects the interactions of all stakeholders with the admissions process, which codifies policies and practices. Oversee prison logistics:Serve as a liaison between correctional officials and Defy team members;Collect, scan and log all necessary materials (ie: applications, attendance and return packets);Track all data, including demographic information, for participants enrolled in the program. Create reports with information pertaining to who has dropped, discharged and/or released;Provide all necessary feedback and updates on program implementation to Defy’s Executive Leadership;Provide any statistical analysis or written reports to Defy’s Executive Leadership and donors as necessary/requested;

Nurture and develop high level system relationships at jails, prison and re-entry centers. Drive program growth and increase number of participants and institutions served through CEO YNL program. Oversee program implementation/logistics and quality control for CEO YNL sites, including all resources and services. Track all program activities and implement internal structures/systems for documenting, capturing and sharing internal best practices. Manage events inside prisons and jails and continue to manage all post release recruitment activities.

Develop broad-ranging relationships with organizations to connect individuals with prior criminal justice involvement to Defy programming. Recruit EITs (Entrepreneurs-In-Training) and enroll them to participate, as well as develop partnerships that advance productive reentry strategies.

Instruct a course in Non-profit personnel management for MPA graduate students.

Oversee the programmatic operations of the Community Assessment and Services Center (CASC), a "one-stop" adult re-entry center that provides a broad array of services to clients under the supervision of the San Francisco Adult Probation. Services include comprehensive case management, substance abuse education, mental health, personal development, education, parenting, and vocational training. Manage a staff of ten along with numerous on-site partner agencies to create a strong continuum of care.

In this role, I managed operations of the Staten Island Youth Justice Center and I was a part of the planning team to create the Brownsville Community Justice Center.

Staten Island Youth Justice Center▪ Oversaw all operations, including administration, facilities management, program development, and strategic and financial planning.▪ Managed alternative to detention program, as well as Youth Court and Respite.▪ Supervised staff, volunteers, and interns.▪ Provided direct service to youth and families by monitoring participants’ attendance, compliance with curfew, and participation in after-school programs.▪ Established and maintained relationships with community-based service providers, City, State, and Federal agencies, and funding partners.▪ Coordinated fundraising and grant opportunities, including proposal writing and progress reports.

Continued to maintain Justice Center operations, development, community initiatives, including the Red Hook Public Safety Corps and the Red Hook Youth Court. Oversight of Project READY, an alternative to detention program and Staten Island Youth Court. Provided technical assistance for community based programs.
