Led technology team through pivot and growth, as HealthLoop shifted from a private-practice-focused strategy to a health system strategy. As the senior technical member of HealthLoop, designed and implemented extensible web application to model medical follow up and surgery prep procedures, using Ruby on Rails and PostgreSQL. Built deployment environment and application on compliance with HIPAA standards, and crafted HIPAA security policy. Worked with medical staff to create algorithms around recovery data. Recruited and hired engineering team, and created development process and workflow. Acted as an integral part of senior management in helping set priorities for the company.

* Core sequence analysis architecture: Designed, wrote, and deployed a simple, distributed model in Java for automatically running sequence analysis programs on our nucleotide and protein sequences. * Created new data flow application and process for quantitative PCR results calculation and visualization: Worked with scientists and RAs to create a regular process around an ad-hoc function; designed and implemented an application to support that process using Java/JSP. Worked with senior management to design a graphical view of the data that would best summarize results. Designed and implemented generation 2 data model in Oracle 9i, and ported all code and data to new schema. * Assessed new technologies for price vs. performance, including different distributed BLAST algorithms and various graphics packages for expression information display * Analyzed sequence data using computational tools to help determine the priority of diagnostic and therapeutic leads

D2M is an engineering design and consulting firm. Each employee was assigned to several project teams, representing their area of competency (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or software). Each person contributed to the construction of the proposed budget, and was responsible for managing their time and resources accordingly.* Wrote back end code of prototype ergonomic sensor hardware, using Linux, Perl, Tk and CPAN modules. Also ported code to Win32/ActiveState Perl. * Wrote manufacturing process code using Perl on Linux, including bar code printing and scanning and DBI/DBD access to a MySQL database * Programmed voice recognition hardware using custom C-like language * Created web control mechanism for radio controlled blimp using embedded Linux on a microcontroller and a Java applet communicating via sockets to a C server, as a proof of concept

Roles: architecture design, implementation in Perl, CGI, C, HTML, OracleIn the time that I was at Incyte, the company went from 240 to 1500 people and from having a single product (LifeSeq) to 17 products. After I designed and coded the data annotation and verification process for Incyte?s second product, I was assigned mainly to design and implement systems that were central to the internal architecture of all the products, such as the chromatogram archive and a task-based configuration-driven system for sequence annotation and analysis.
