Quantitative expression of a novel ripening-related gene was collected in tomato and other fruit species using QPCR and Southern Blot analysis. Artificial Neural Network analysis (AAN) and RNASeq was used to further early ripening transcriptomic data-sets where the gene-of-interest was further characterized within the GRN framework and the function in transgenic tomato species was investigated.

A novel Hybridisation Protection assay was used among an array of molecular lab techniques to characterise two molecular mechanisms exhibited in Fucus vesiculosus in response to copper toxicity. The up-regulation of genes encoding a family of anti-porter proton pumps used in sequestration of heavy metals into physodes coupled with a speculated RNA editing event was empirically observed to increase the organism’s viability in contaminated estuarine environments.
