Director Of Business Development

Winter Park, Florida, Us

Palmer was experiencing transformational change with the construction industry vaporizing in Central Florida during the Great Recession. While a career change to a construction company might seem odd for me, it was a great fit because I knew all about this new opportunity for them...and working for Palmer helped me achieve a personal goal...bringing Electric Vehicles to Orlando! At Palmer, I developed two new business focuses for them: Electric Vehicle Charger Installation and commercial building services. During my two years there, I overhauled the company website, created all new marketing collateral and Ad-Words campaigns for Palmer's 26 commercial services, started a sales department and hired an experienced sales person. I also got to judge buildings for BOMA, help perform the Energy portion of the LEED EB certification for the Orange County Convention Center, and help create USGBC's Green Destination Orlando program. The results of my tenure at Palmer were 1) Palmer Electric clearly leading in public EV Charger installations in Central Florida (~70) and installing for many GM and Fisker Automotive customers, 2). a 50% increase in website traffic with much improved conversions, and 3) a highly profitable commercial services sales function.

As a personal goal, I wanted to see if I could affect change to get Electric Vehicles to Orlando. Florida isn't known for being progressive, so I got involved with the city's new initiative called Get Ready Central Florida and we made Central Florida the most EV ready city in the Southeast! Read the whole story here on my blog: http://www.pluginrecharge.com/2011/05/orlando-is-almost-ready.html • Innovation/Entrepreneur: Created and maintain an Electric Vehicle infrastructure (EVSE) blog: www.pluginrecharge.com. The site gets over 1700 unique visitors and 4500 pageviews a month from 69 countries who stay nearly 3 minutes (March 2012). The site comes up first page on many Google Searches and is referred to by the DOE, several utilities, and many blogs. • Leadership: Key player to getting Orlando “EV Ready” via my participation on the Steering Committee for Central Florida’s “Get Ready Central Florida” Team (www.PlugAndGoNow.com) to get the city on early adopter lists for Nissan and ChargePoint America. Through my job at Palmer, I marketed, sold, and installed over 100 EVSE. • Presentation/Expertise: Presented at many Expos and Panels about Electric Vehicles, Marketing, and Renewable Energy.

Ceo & Cofounder

Iconvene.Com

I did something crazy like start a software company...and I'm not kidding about the crazy part. I spent two years with my 4 employees developing and launching iConvene, as SaaS product to easily book a small meeting space at a variety of choices around the city and add catering, A/V, and other services as easily as using Expedia to book a trip. iConvene was the first company picked at the UCF Incubator system to present at the Florida Venture Forum. It worked great for 6 months, but I learned a big lesson in macro economics...never launch a company the same time the US economy dives into a Great Recession. Timing is everything. That said, it was professionally the most rewarding 2 years of my life and I thoroughly enjoyed working with the people I hired.
