Matt Thorbes is a 15 year post qualified accountant, with extensive experience in the Banking and Finance sector.He previously worked for Lloyds Banking Group (formerly Lloyds TSB Group) for 18 years, starting out as a Financial Management Trainee, performing several accounting and finance roles, including a period as an assistant to the Financial Controller of the company's American operation based in New York.He gained a great deal of experience during three years with the Group Financial Control office, during which time he played a role in the pre- Day One preparations of the LTSB/HBOS integration in late 2008 and early 2009, and providing financial information and decision support to the Government Asset Protection Scheme negotiations with the Treasury in early 2009.He spent 2 years working on systems and process development as part of the Group's Wealth & International Chief Operating Office and was briefly seconded to support the creation of a Strategic Finance function supporting Merger & Acquisition activity as part of the Group's 2011 Strategic Review.In 2012, he returned to Group Financial Control to oversee the Financial aspects of the Group's Stress Testing process, working closely with Group Risk. He played a key part in the development of LBGs participation in the Bank of England UK Stress Testing framework, and continued to oversee the Finance divisions participation in this activity until 2017. In 2017 he joined Group Corporate Treasury as the Senior Business Partner to the Funding & Liquidity, Issuance and Group Capital Management Directors.
