Svendborg og Kerteminde har begge fokus på udstillings- og uddannelsesvirksomhed samt forskning inden for biologi. Der har siden 2012 været et formaliseret samarbejde med sigte på en egentlig fusion. Naturama er et bredt og statsanerkendt naturhistorisk.
