A long fought battle between two technology giants resulted in a major victory for our client: Google. The jury returned a verdict that Google's Android operating system was Fair Use. Hats off to our clients, Keker and VanNest. Everyone worked very hard. The trial team did a magnificent job. This is the second major victory for Google in their dispute with Oracle. The first came in the 2012 trial when the jury found no infringement of Oracle's patents. This round, the jury found that Google's use of the declaring code and the structure, sequence and organization of the 37 APIs is fair use.Mike combines training and experience in clinical psychology with an extensive background in applied statistics, epidemiology and demography. In his over 20 years as a trial consultant, he has designed and conducted extensive jury research including mock trials, focus groups, and community surveys. He has selected juries all over the country, prepared witnesses for depositions and trial testimony, and served and been accepted by state and federal courts as a statistical expert in both employment and housing discrimination cases. He has helped trial teams craft and execute successful trial strategies. A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, Mike received his B.A. and M.A. in psychology, Ph.D. in personality assessment, and his M.P.H. (masters in public health) in epidemiology; Post-doctoral clinical training at the Department of Psychiatry, Stanford University Medical Center and post doctoral fellowship in demography at the Carolina Population Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Post doctoral fellowships funded by the National Institutes of Child Health and Human Development.
