After having spend many years in management I felt it was time to refresh my engineering skills and investigate new technologies. So after having spend the past year in planning great tools for Gracenote, I picked up my number one black box project and started engineering it.This period solely focusing on engineering work gave me great experience with Ruby on Rails, Bootstrap, Elastic Search and I also got hands on experience with AWS as well as Capistrano and Ansible for deployment.

In 2014 TMS merged with Gracenote forming a unified vision to be the leading provider of music, TV and video data.After my successful expansion of our European activities in TMS I moved to our global operations focusing on our data ingest, editorial content tools and processing.In this position I’ve worked on creating a vision for our tool suites and building out new strong workflows for our more than 800 editors globally.In this position I’ve focused on:- User experience and training- Improving our workflows and processes- Build a long term vision for how we build tools in general- Efficiency through automation- Product managementWith more than 800 editors using our internal tools it matters a great deal that our tools are easy to use as this lowers the needs for training. Therefore I’ve been focusing on building tools with clear workflows that focuses on a given task, but still allow for a diverse approach to data building globally.

TMS data reaches millions of consumers in 40 countries through clients including Microsoft, Yahoo!, TiVo, Time Warner Cable, Verizon FiOS TV, IMDb, Virgin Media UK, Com Hem, DIRECTV Latin America, SKY Brasil and Cablevision Mexico.When I joined TMS post the EPG systems acquisition I was put in charge of our European operations.I was immediately tasked with the integration of EPGS technology in our operations and expanding our market coverage from UK + Sweden to including Germany (DACH), France, Spain, Italy and Nordic countries (DK+NO+FI).Over the coming 12 months I grew the team from roughly 30 to 100 employees, while gaining up to 50% efficiencies in existing markets.Through this period I gained experience with:- Change Management- Editorial processes- Multi cultural environments- Corporate culture and how to navigate it- Internal communications- Multi level management going from direct management to managing managers

EPG systems delivered EPG meta data to IPTV and cable operators, telcos, OTT-providers, online TV-guides, app developers and newspapers. Covering more than 2500 TV-channels distributed in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, we became one of the leading EPG providers in the market before the acquisition by Tribune Media Services in November 2013.I founded EPG systems after realizing that most EPG providers at the time where very manual operated. Most competitors processed EPG schedules manually with pore or even no automation.From day one I set myself a goal: Anything that can be automated must be automated and ended up building a disruptive new technology. This allowed us to cut costs dramatically compared to our competitors and handle many more schedules per FTE.In running EPGS I got experience with:- Business development and strategy- Scaleability and Risk management- Business operations & finance- Data ingest and distributionOver three years of business we had an average growth of 50% per year, 70% in 2013 alone. EPG systems was acquired by Tribune Media Services in november 2013, which have given me good insights to due diligence processes and in general changing ownership of a company.

TimeFor.TV, formerly ontv.dk, started as a hobby project. At the time Denmark was lacking a strong online tv-guide so I decided to build it myself. Apparently I wasn’t the only one missing such a tv-guide and the website quickly grew it’s user base and peaked in 2010 with more than 250.000 unique users a month in Denmark.I made many iterations over the concept and the service and was the first tv-guide in Denmark to build a reminder system with email and SMS service where you could sign up for reminders of your favorite tv-airings.The reminder system grew I build out a robust service with advanced automatic agents that would allow the end users to sign up for reminders of e.g. The Simpsons whenever it aired in primetime, on specific channels, on certain week days etc.TimeFor.TV gave me insigts to:- Starting up a business from scratch- Business operations including finance, legal etc.- Running an online media reliant on advertising income- Market online medias and building online traffic- User interface design- Building apps for iPhone, Android & Windows Phone- Out sourcing of engineering work (especially app development)

I was in charge of engineering and designing our homegrown online advertising system which served 1.5 billion ads a month serving many danish online publication houses.Besides just serving ads we build a number of experimental methods to target advertising, e.g. retargeting, various frequency systems, view capping etc.We also build a very robust capacity technology that could calculate available capacity per ad unit, url or cross media groups.I headed up a team of 5 engineers and my primary responsibilities included:- System architechture & engineering- Designing user interfaces and workflows- Daily operations of more than 30 in house servers in 2 locations- Joining various customer meetings- Technical advisory for our CEO- Negotiating customer and vendor SLA'sIn my last year in AdServing I was also put in charge of our customer support and account management team which immediately doubled my team size.Running customer support thought me a lot about how my customers interact with my software.
